6 Natural Health Uses Of Apple Cider Vinegar
Please welcome my Guest Blogger, Bryn Huntpalmer from Modernize.Today she’s going to share with us their favorite health uses of a simple ingredient we ALL should have plenty of in our homes; Apple Cider Vinegar.
Natural Health Benefits of Apple Cider Vinegar
Apple cider vinegar is an incredibly helpful product to keep around the house thanks to its many different benefits and uses. Not only does it work as an effective food preservative due to its powerful antimicrobial properties, but it also happens to work well as a basic household cleaner for counter surfaces, sinks, floors, windows and walls. Modernize is particularly fond of apple cider vinegar for it’s natural health uses and benefits as well—here’s a list of our favorites:
Tackle Tummy Troubles
Apple cider vinegar can help with bacterial infections in the gut that cause diarrhea and other tummy troubles. You can put a couple tablespoons of apple cider vinegar into a glass of water or freshly squeezed juice and sip slowly to find some relief within just a few minutes’ time.
Snuff a Stuffy Nose
Clearing up a stuffy nose can be done naturally with the help of apple cider vinegar’s high potassium levels. Mixing a little apple cider vinegar with a glass of warm water to drink should help thin mucus and clear sinus passages. You can also drink a glass of vinegar water before bed when you have a cold to minimize the chance of waking up with a stuffy nose.
Lower Cholesterol Levels
Studies in rats indicate that the acetic acid in apple cider vinegar works to lower unhealthy cholesterol levels, and the same results have been seen in human patients as well. In fact, just a half ounce of apple cider vinegar a day seems to have the power to assist the body in lowering cholesterol levels in people long term.
Stop Dusting off Dandruff
Apple cider vinegar has the ability to change your scalp’s PH to optimal levels, which makes it difficult for yeast (the cause of dandruff) to grow. With regular vinegar treatments, you can expect your dandruff to naturally subside. To treat your dandruff, simply mix equal parts water and apple cider vinegar into a spray bottle and spray the solution directly on your scalp twice daily.
Balance Blood Sugar Levels
Ingesting just two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar before bed has been shown to naturally lower glucose levels overnight for a healthier blood sugar reading in the morning. Drinking apple cider vinegar mixed with water before a high-carbohydrate meal can help keep glucose levels under control, too.
Let Go of Leg Cramps
Night-time leg cramps are often a sign of low potassium levels, which is something that apple cider vinegar can quickly remedy. Mix a tablespoon each of apple cider vinegar and honey into a glass of warm water before bed to minimize the chance of developing leg cramps overnight. You can drink the concoction after leg cramps start to develop during the day, too.
With so many benefits and uses for apple cider vinegar to keep in mind, it may be a good idea to keep a gallon of the stuff in your cupboard at all times!
