Adding some plant life to your home will lift your spirits and bring more life to your interior. Splashes of green here and there will create a warmth inside of your home that can only be brought from caring for another living thing. Multiple studies have shown that caring for houseplants can have miraculous effects. They’ve been known to reduce stress and spark creativity. One interesting study showed that people with houseplants recovered from surgery quicker than those without. With all of the positive buzz surrounding indoor planting, there’s no better time to come up with creative ways to add green to your home. (Continue Reading Below)

Indoor plants are air purifiers and placing them around your home can improve your health and happiness. Areca Palm is the top purifier of all and it’s lucky that it is an attractive addition to any home. Place the palm in the corner of any room to give your home a tropical and relaxing vibe. This plant gets the highest purifying score from NASA and you can rest assured that your home is a place of peace and health with this plant around. Use the palm to frame a doorway or fireplace.

Using plants as a centerpiece for your dining room table is another beautiful way to incorporate green into your decor. A centerpiece plant may not be very close to a light source, but don’t fret. So long as there is a window in the room, most plants can grow and prosper at any distance. Stay away from choosing a plant that you know requires much sun and watering.

Your decorative centerpiece plant will be a talking point over dinner and will cheer you up at breakfast first thing in the morning. Try an orchid or lily for your dining table. These elegant flowers are known for their vibrant petals and long stems. They will be a perfect addition to your home.

One unlikely place to incorporate greenery is in your bathroom. The bathroom can be a perfect environment for tropical houseplants who thrive in damp and humid climates. The bathroom seems like a utilitarian place with a very specific use and is often neglected when it comes to decor. You can transform your bathroom by adding a few plants inside. Choose plants that need low light and change out your bathroom lighting to use fluorescent bulbs which send out the type of light plants need. Don’t take up any valuable floor space in your bathroom by putting plants on the floor, instead hang your plants or fill a window sill with a climbing variety. Soon your bathroom will feel warm and inviting. The splashes of green will warm your heart every time you enter.

Adding more green to your home can make a huge difference on your mood and your health. Don’t wait to start mixing plant life into your decor. Once you do your home will be transformed into a bright happy place you really love.

Rediscovering the health benefits of adding more green to our home is really inspiring to me. I definitely want to add a nice small planter to my dining room table as well. How about you? But….. It’s Confession time – Hi, My name is Mellisa and I’m a plant killer.  I can’t even tell you how many plants I’ve left for dead over the course of the years. But life is about change and growth isn’t it?

Currently, I have one plant in my home. It is a spider plant that my son brought home from school for me on Mother’s Day a couple of years ago. I have this plant in my bedroom window sill. The bedroom is not an area that Bryn mentioned specifically, but obviously, it is an area that we do spend a lot of time in, so it makes sense to put one there as well.  Amazingly enough, my spider plant is growing and thriving! It has shoots all over the place. My secret you ask? Light, Love and….Water. LOL.

Question: What are you without an immune system?
Answer: You are dead.

As morbid as it may sound, it’s true. When your immune system is weak you will get sick. When your immune system completely fails you will die.
